Michael John McCormick
October 15, 1939 – November 21, 2015
Colonel McCormick of Montclair, VA died on November 21, 2015 peacefully at home. He was born on October 15, 1939 in Seattle Washington. Col. McCormick graduated from Gonzaga University, Spokane Washington in May 1962 and was commissioned into the US Army In June 1962 until he retired in July 1990. He served in the Republic of Korea in 1963 to 1964, the Republic of Vietnam in 1966 to 1967 and 1970 to 1971, the Federal Republic of Germany in 1964 to 1965, 1971 to 1977 and 1981 to 1987, and several assignments in the United States. Among his military awards were the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Army Meritorious Service Medal, and Army Commendation Medal. After his military career, he was employed as a senior Logistics and Distribution Analyst for Defense Contractors.
Colonel McCormick was a Distinguished Member of the US Army Transportation Corps Regiment, a Life Member of the Military Officer’s Association of America, member of the National Defense Transportation Association and the Association of the United States Army.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ella McCormick, originally of Zurich, Switzerland, his daughter Carmen, son Patrick, daughter-in-law Sandi, and granddaughter Kylie Ann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 2:30 PM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 14160 Ferndale Road, Dale City, VA 22193. Internment with Full Military Honors will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
