World Youth Day 2016
World Youth Day (WYD) – an international pilgrimage occurring every 2-3 years for young adults (ages 16 – 35) from all over the world. Occurs in different cities/countries each time. (World Youth Day 2016 in Krakow, Poland: July 25-August 1) A week of catechesis (teachings by fabulous speakers), music festivals, meeting thousands of new people, Adoration with the Pope, a pilgrimage walk (a spiritual and physical journey to a destination) to the overnight Vigil and Papal Mass. Requires fundraising, occasional meetings, passport, a willingness to commit to the preparation plans, and must be 16 years of before the trip begins.
World Youth Day 2016 – Event details will be posted as WYD 2016 is planned by the local organizing committee in Krakow.
Information meeting is on September 24th at 7 PM in Room 6. Anyone interested in being a WYD pilgrim is encouraged to attend. Deposit of $500 per pilgrim required by October 21st, 2014.
An 8-day basic pilgrimage to Krakow (July 24 – August 1, 2016) that includes roundtrip airfare and ground transportation, hotel accommodations, most meals, diocesan WYD shirt, WYD registration and pilgrim backpack. Cost is $3,500 (additional costs at the parish level will be incurred)
An Extended Pilgrimage to Rome, Assisi, Venice and Vienna (7 days): July 18 – 25, approximately an additional $1,000. Includes Basic Pilgrimage package plus a pilgrimage through Italy in the footsteps of saints, with a stop in Vienna on our way to Krakow.
